Botox® is a widely recognised brand of botulinum toxin type A, a prescription-only medicine used in both aesthetic and medical treatments. In aesthetic practice, it is carefully administered into selected muscles to temporarily reduce the muscular activity responsible for the formation of expression lines and wrinkles.
Every smile, frown and raised eyebrow creates movement within the muscles beneath the skin. Over time, these repeated expressions can contribute to visible lines across the forehead, between the brows and around the eyes. By precisely targeting specific muscles, Botox® can soften the appearance of these dynamic lines while allowing the face to retain its natural character and expression.

Botox® is not just cosmetic. It is a clinically proven treatment for a range of medical and functional conditions.
Botulinum toxin can be used to temporarily reduce excessive sweating by blocking the nerve signals responsible for activating the sweat glands. At ART FACE Clinic, treatment may be considered for areas including the underarms and palms, following an individual consultation.
For suitable patients, treatment of overactive jaw muscles may help reduce muscular tension associated with jaw clenching and teeth grinding. Your practitioner will assess your symptoms and muscle activity to determine whether treatment is appropriate.
Botulinum toxin may be used as a preventative treatment for chronic migraine in appropriately selected patients. A thorough medical consultation and assessment are required to establish suitability and an appropriate treatment plan.

06 | Your Consultation
Every treatment at ART FACE Clinic begins with a consultation. It is where suitability is established, expectations are discussed and your treatment plan is designed.
Assessment
Your practitioner reviews your medical history, current medications and any previous treatments to confirm that treatment is appropriate for you.
Facial analysis
Your facial anatomy, muscle strength and natural movement are assessed at rest and in expression — this is what determines placement and dosage.
Your treatment plan
We discuss what you would like to improve, what is realistically achievable and the degree of movement you would like to keep, then agree a plan and a price before anything proceeds.
07 | The Treatment
Treatment itself is quick, and most patients return to their day immediately afterwards.
Preparation
The treatment areas are cleansed and your injection points are marked in line with the plan agreed at consultation.
Treatment
A very fine needle is used to administer small, measured amounts into the selected muscles. Most patients describe it as a brief sharp scratch; anaesthetic is usually not required.
Afterwards
Treatment typically takes 15–30 minutes. You may see small raised bumps at the injection points, which usually settle within an hour.
08 | Results & Aftercare
Results appear gradually rather than immediately, and simple aftercare helps you get the best from your treatment.
The first few days
Stay upright for four hours, avoid rubbing or massaging the treated areas, and skip strenuous exercise, saunas and alcohol for 24 hours.
Days 3–5
You will usually begin to notice the treated muscles softening.
Days 10–14
Your full result settles. A review appointment at around two weeks lets us assess the outcome together and make any small adjustments.
Results typically last approximately 3–4 months and vary between individuals depending on muscle strength, metabolism, dosage and the area treated. Longevity often improves with regular, consistent treatment.

Prices start from £200. Your exact price depends on the number of areas treated and is confirmed at your consultation, before any treatment goes ahead.
All prices are inclusive of your consultation and a two-week review appointment. There are no hidden costs — the price agreed at consultation is the price you pay.
10 | FAQs
Most patients find it very tolerable. A very fine needle is used and the sensation is usually described as a brief sharp scratch lasting a second or two. Anaesthetic is not normally required.
You will usually start to notice a difference within 3–5 days, with the full result settling at around 10–14 days. We recommend a review at two weeks so we can assess the outcome together.
Approximately 3–4 months for most patients, though this varies with muscle strength, metabolism, dosage and the area treated. Longevity often improves with regular treatment.
Not with a considered approach. Dosage and placement are planned around how your face actually moves, with the specific aim of softening lines while preserving natural expression. If you would like to retain more movement, tell us at your consultation — it is part of the plan.
Minimal. You may have small raised bumps at the injection points for up to an hour and occasionally mild bruising. Most patients return to work and normal activities straight away, avoiding exercise, saunas and alcohol for 24 hours.
Treatment is not suitable during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, or for people with certain neuromuscular conditions or a known allergy to any of the ingredients. Suitability is always established at consultation — this is a prescription-only medicine and is only provided following an individual assessment.
